Aroma:
Intense and inviting, with dominant notes of bitter almond, marzipan, and cake icing. Subtle hints of candied cherry, orange zest, and nougat. Light nuances of vanilla and caramelized sugar add depth to the bouquet.
Taste:
Smooth and velvety, with an unctuous, mouth‑filling texture. Dominant notes of marzipan, toasted almond, and apricot. Layers of vanilla, caramelized sugar, and candied fruit intertwine with a hint of lemon zest. Long finish with toasted almond and marzipan, balanced by a faint toasty bitterness.
Features:
Despite its intense almond flavour, the liqueur contains no nuts — its distinctive taste comes from apricot kernel oil. The recipe also includes absolute alcohol, burnt sugar, and the essence of 17 selected herbs and fruits. Bottled in an iconic oblong glass decanter handcrafted by Murano masters.
History & Reputation:
Disaronno is the world's most famous amaretto, sold in over 160 countries. Its story dates back to 1525 in the Italian town of Saronno. Legend has it that a local innkeeper, who posed for artist Bernardino Luini's fresco "Madonna dei Miracoli", gifted him a flask of her aromatic liqueur. The recipe was kept secret by the Reina family for generations and was commercially launched in the early 1900s by Domenico Reina. In 2001, to distinguish itself from competitors, the liqueur was officially renamed Disaronno Originale. Today, the brand remains a symbol of Italian style and quality.
